PARK, Soo-Hyun (PARK=family name, Soo-Hyun=given name)


PARK, Soo-Hyun was born in Osaka, Japan as a 3rd generation of Korea resident in Japan. He was majored in composition at Osaka College of Music and studied conductiong and clarinet. While he studied Science of Art at Kyoto Universit of Art and Design, he was awarded in several festivals and competitions including "Asian Music Festival 2003 in Tokyo" organized by Asian Composers League, "the 3rd ACL-Korea Young Composers Award" held in Seoul, the 1st prize of the "15th Daegu International Contemporary Music Festival", "the 10th Kyoen~21 century's wind music" in Tokyo. He was also invited to "2007 South Projection of Taiwan" as a guest composer. In December, 2008, he held a recital "Sarang -Reading music series", and at the same time, released CD "Sarang" in whole Asia market.

In 2009, his work "White Dance" was selected at "World New Music Days 2009" in Sweden held by International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM). Another work "Odolttogi Rhapsody " which was orderd for a resident piece of The 3rd Competition of Korea Community Bands" was performed at "Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival". In 2010, He composed the all programs for the concert tour of "Ten Drum Art Pecussion Group" from Taiwan, who was nominated for the 9th Grammy award.

Currently, he is a member of Kansai Modern Music Association in Japan. His works, at present, have been performed around the world including Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, Sweden. Since 2002 PARK Soo-Hyun's works have append on various TV shows and films projects through out Japan and Asia. His musical activities include; composition, conducting, playing the clarinet and recorder, he also performs many other ethnic flutes such as the Chinese Bawu, which is rare among Chinese minority races. PARK has also been involved as a staff member with the international exchange through music and arts association, which is affiliated with UNESCO - The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization.
